KFC guard accused of
stealing chicken
A security officer
attached to a Kentucky
Fried Chicken (KFC) outlet
and accused of stealing
chicken was yesterday
released on self-bail by
Principal Magistrate
Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
John Thomas, 55, a
security guard who resides
at 343 Herstelling, East
Bank Demerara, pleaded not
guilty to break and enter
and larceny when he
appeared at the Georgetown
Magis-trate's Court.
It is alleged that on
July 19 at Georgetown he
broke and entered the KFC
branch at Mandela Avenue
and stole chicken worth
$3,540, property of Deo
Singh.
Police Prosecutor
Desiree Fowler told the
court that Thomas worked
as a guard at the KFC
outlet. She added that the
security supervisor had
seen him the building
early in the morning with
the stolen chicken.
Thomas told the court
that he did not steal the
chicken and he has been
working at the outlet for
a number of years. He
said, "I does work
outside and I don't even
know what the inside of
the building look
like."
He was placed on
self-bail and his case was
transferred to Court Three
for August 29.
