Taxi Drivers selling space at Rosignol and NA stellings
I read a letter by Mr. Tajpaul Gainda in the Stabroek News of August 3, 2007. He related that taxi drivers occupy space in the New Amsterdam and Rosignol ferry lines and then sell it.

Well, I have one better. I was in the line; a vehicle belonging to a telephone company was in front of me. I saw a tout speak with the driver; then he left, went down the line behind me and came back and give the driver something. After the truck boarded and it was time for cars to board, a car came from the back and stopped alongside the vehicle from the telephone company. When the car in front of the company vehicle moved up the car went in front of the company vehicle and on to the stelling.

A police officer was there, while proceeding I stopped and asked how could the car be allowed to breach the line. Believe me; the officer said he saw nothing.

So Mr. Gainda, don’t think anything will change, it is endemic; pray for the bridge. When you have to cross with the ferry, wear slack clothes, drink your pressure tablets and enjoy the show.
