Three-vehicle crash
A smash-up at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, early yesterday morning, mangled three vehicles, cut down a utility pole, damaged two fences and shifted a guard hut.

Fortunately, the female guard on duty came out unscathed though shaken after a speeding, out-of-control motorcar, PHH 5674, shifted her guard hut at 14 Public Road, Plaisance, at about 4.h.

Engineer attached to the Ministry of Public Service, Mr George Howard told the Guyana Chronicle that he was awakened by the loud noise, looked out and saw the ministry’s vehicle he had parked outside his house neatly fitted in his neighbour’s yard.

He explained that a motorcar had slammed into his vehicle. Then his vehicle felled a utility pole, smashed his neighbour’s fence and shifted the guard hut before ramming a parked minibus, all this in Scott’s Vulcanising Shop compound.

Sharon Scott said it is fortunate that she did not park her motorcar in the yard Saturday evening, else it would have been damaged also.

Shortly after the Guyana Chronicle showed up at the scene yesterday, a police tow truck arrived and took away the badly damaged ministry’s vehicle and lodged it in the Sparendaam Police Station compound.

The driver of the speeding motorcar sustained minor injuries and is in police custody.
