Dear Editor,
The PNC has set out on a campaign to tell the world that they
will be protesting for the restoration of law and order and have set
about doing so by attempting to destroy the character of two of the
country's finest sons. They are failing badly and ironically
Minister Gajraj and ex-commissioner McDonald have today become
heroes to the law abiding citizens of all races, thanks to the PNC.
For what law abiding citizens are against really is crime, and not
anything that is done to fight it or anyone who is involved in the
fight. It would do the PNC well to just go through the villages and
sense for itself how fed up the people are with their antics against
the Minister.
I am sure the PNC knows that the people took note of the fact
that the party was silent on the crime wave that started with the
jail break, which grew to become a real threat to the very existence
of the state with the indiscriminate killing of over twenty
policemen in order to destroy the very institution that was
responsible for law and order in the country. The PNC itself went on
the warpath with the police, breaking their morale and making them
feel as if anything they did was seen as supportive of the
Government and as a result whatever was happening was deserved. Many
policemen left the force, and many were afraid to travel in their
uniforms. The PNC even attacked the decision to call out the army to
assist the beleaguered police force.
It is against this background and in these circumstances that the
people have formed their opinion of Commissioner McDonald and
Minister Gajraj. Thankfully, the situation was brought under
control.
Yours faithfully,
