Persaud, who is among the most recent batch of
graduates of the Hugh Wooding Law School, had her petition presented by Attorney
General, Mr. Doodnauth Singh, Senior Counsel (S.C.), before Chief Justice Mr.
Carl Singh.
The Attorney General, in moving her petition, referred to the
scholastic career of the new entrant, who comes from a good family
background.
He congratulated her on her achievements and wished her
success in her future endeavours.
In her reply, the new lawyer thanked
her tutors, her parents and relatives, her friends, and all those who helped her
on the road to success.
She also thanked the Chief Justice and the
Attorney General for their words of wisdom, and assured all that she would do
all in her power to adhere to the high traditions of the Bar.
Present at
the ceremony yesterday were lecturers of the University of Guyana, and several
other members of the legal fraternity including Speaker of the House, Mr.
Ralph Ramkarran, S.C.
