IThe battered and badly decomposing body
of 27-year-old Marvin Thomas was found in a pool of
dried blood, lying face down on a bed in the front
room of his Lot 13 Supply, East Bank Demerara home.
The discovery was made at around noon yesterday.
Thomas was unemployed.

The evidence collected suggests that he was
killed when someone struck him repeatedly with a
piece of wood, before his house was rummaged. Police
were unable to determine what was taken.

The murder weapon which had blood stains on both
ends was recovered in the bathtub inside the house.
The killer(s) had picked up the piece of wood from
the yard at the back of the house.
Blood splatter was also found on the walls of the
home, suggesting that the deceased was beaten
outside of the room before be stumbled to, or was
placed on the bed.
The deceased was last seen on Tuesday evening, by
Monty Gaskin, the property's power-of-attorney who
is also acting as landlord. Gaskin lives next door.
According to Gaskin, Thomas was seen standing on
the front porch of the bottom flat which he occupied
with his mother, who spends most of her time working
as a welfare officer in the mining town of Linden .
His mother, Marva Thomas, would usually be home
on weekends.
When contacted the woman stated that she was
unaware of who would want her son dead.
The body is now at the Lyken Funeral
Parlour awaiting a post mortem examination.
