An East Coast Demerara
housewife was on Saturday night
attacked and robbed by four men,
one of whom was armed with a
handgun while the
others were armed with
cutlasses

Police later arrested three of
the suspected bandits.
A release from the police said
that the woman, Khempattie
Pooran, who lives at Strathspey
Line Top,
East Coast, was robbed at around 10 on
Saturday night.
According to the release the
woman's brother, Hemraj, was in a
hammock outside when the men
entered the yard and held him at
gunpoint. They took him into the
house where they also held up the
woman and took away $50,000 and a
quantity of jewellery before
escaping. Investigations are
continuing.
