He stated that major works have not been done in several areas within the communities in more than 20 years.

Added to this, the resident stated, requests have been made to the Eccles/ Ramsburg Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) to rectify the problems but, according to reports, the Council lacks the resources to attempt any major infrastructural repairs within those communities.

Overseer of the Eccles NDC, David Sugrim, stated that some work will commence today on certain parts of the road, particularly those around the Industrial Site which had been damaged by machines working for the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, which had been repairing the bridge there last week.

He added that other works will commence shortly on the main access roads in the communities through a $3M Government subvention. Tenders have already been issued.

Sugrim noted that regular work is done on the roads, particularly the main access roads, but he admitted that much more needs to be done.

At present, almost all the access roads are filled with potholes.

Others have hurriedly patched openings at street heads, evidence of digging by the Works Ministry during last year's massive drainage campaign.

The Eccles/Ramsburg NDC overseer told this newspaper that there was an attempt to fill some potholes as recently as last Saturday, and the Council is continuing to address the issues as they arise.

There is also a drainage problem. According to residents, there is drainage congestion, which causes some level of flooding and major infrastructural degradation. Vehicles that traverse the area sustain damage.

One resident added that the collection of rates and taxes within the areas has far exceeded several areas across the country, but that people are still to see the benefits.
