One or the other
A LETTER writer, on a recent trip to Guyana, thought that he was in an African country as he was passing through customs at the airport in Timehri.

A LETTER writer, on a recent trip to Guyana, thought that he was in an African country.

He also said he observed that the vast majority of people in the security forces and various government departments seemed to reinforce his view that he was in an African country.

The main opposition party has been accusing the government of "discrimination" and "marginalisation", etc. in its employment practices.

If what the letter writer alleged is true, then the accusations by the opposition party must be groundless and of evil design.

The situation must be one or the other.

Submit the evidence
PRIOR to there being a Commission of Inquiry to investigate allegations levelled against the Home Affairs Minister, the PNCR made a big hullabaloo about having evidence.

Now I have noticed that the commissioners have said that they did not receive any statements from the public.

Why did the PNCR not submit the ‘evidence’ that it boasted of having?

Why call for an investigation that you are not supporting?

The PNCR is still playing politics. This is a serious matter and should be treated as such.

Even Jimmy Carter urged the political leaders to stop playing politics and work seriously to develop the nation.

What the PNCR fails to realise is that they owe it to Guyanese to fight crime and if they have any evidence of crime, they should bring it forward now.

However, the Commission of Inquiry can very well subpoena the PNCR and it will have to state its ‘evidence’.
